Hi! I'm new! Paragon question.

Hi.

I should start by saying that I am not new to Guild Wars. I have been playing GW in some form or another off an on for the past three years but i never got very deep in the game. I bought GWEN last year and haven't even started it.

This is mostly because I had also been playing WoW, which I quit for good recently. So now I have more time to devote to GW (and some other games I bought but never got around to).

I have a level 20 Assassin, Ranger, and Dervish. I've not completed any of the campaigns yet but decided I would give Nightfall ago and I started over with a Paragon (currently level 7).

I don't see alot of Paragons walking around the towns. Is this a desirable profession? Also, do people still play the missions multiplayer or do most people solo them?

Hrm... the paragon is a fundamentally flawed class. All their mechanics are designed to work better the more paragons there are present. Unfortunately this meant full paragon and paragon+monk teams were insanely overpowered, and so the paragon was nerfed until several paragons together weren't way overpowered.... and now a lone paragon is probably a bit underpowered, despite attempts to preserve their non-group mechanics from nerfs. Honestly my paragon has no problem flattening PvE foes... but he usually goes with 2 paragon heroes, a R/P hero set up as a fourth paragon, and any paragon and ranger henchmen I can get while saving the last spots for monks. In a build like that the paragon is still at least on par with other classes and balanced builds...

Anyway, it's usually not very hard to find some people doing the missions with other players, or at least a partner for the 6 heroes... but I guess I haven't tried any of the early nightfall missions outside HM in a year or more.

I'm always hearing how people have problems playing their Paragon without other Paragons in the party . . . I have one and she has beaten GWEN and is about to beat NF and she never plays with other Paragons . . . weird.

In answer to your question, you should be able to play the Missions up to Kodonur Crossroads without any other real life players. That is always where I need another person. (Unless I am playing a ranger.) Good luck and welcome back to the Game. I love my Paragon character, she will be one of the ones who gets a descendant in GW2. :)

As someone who plays a Paragon regularly, I have to say that the perception that Para's are only effective in groups with multiple paragons is somewhat flawed. I've found that they do just fine being the only Para. The only thing I will comment on is that they absolutely require you (the player) to be aware of where the other members of your team are. If you don't have the majority of your team inside your Radar (Earshot) you will not get the most effective use of your shouts, chants, etc.

Most people do solo most missions now, it tends to be faster and much easier once you have Heroes (some of us still did it back in the old days with 7 henchmen).

Every mission can be beaten this way, but teaming up with a second human player and their 3 heroes is probably the best assuming you both have decent knowledge and skill.
