guild wars 2 2010/2011!?

Just read this on the wiki

"NC Soft released it's 2008 earnings report and it indicates Guild Wars 2 to be announced 2010/2011."

what does it mean announced? does that mean release date will be annouced then, leading to a possible 2012 release, or if it will come out then?

Well then, I guess it's time to move on until 2010/2011. Thanks for all the fish! At least some upcoming MMOs will keep me occupied.

yeah it looks like it will be 2010 2011 (not 2012) when I looked at the report properly it basically means that when we get there we will set a 4 quarter split for both years and one of those quarters will have a little orange box with the word guild wars 2 in it. and I was really hoping for a 09 release =( =\, ell spose it gives me time to play my GW character to death and get tons of stuff in my hall of monuments.

I was already expecting GW2 to be released around 2010-2011 because it seemed more realistic then what other people wanted it to be. People probably got their hopes up when such an early date for open beta was mentioned in the first place.

Anyone who realistically thought the game was to be released this year have been retardedly optimistic. There just never was any way it would be a finished product by the end of this year.

Guess I am retardedly optimistic then...

I mean, initially, they had said end of 2008, then they said end of 2009. So I never even imagined that they would disappoint their fanbase a THIRD time by pushing it back even further out than already promised twice over...

They said that they were expecting beta testing by the end of 2008. They moved the beta testing back closer to the release of the game. They said that the release of Guild Wars 2 was PROBABLY going to be released late 2009/2010, but no guarantee. One thing people need to realize about game design: dates aren't set in stone. They could get close to releasing beta or the game only to realize something doesn't work.

Game design requires time to complete, time as in years. They will release the game when it's ready, and NCSoft is able to market it. Right now, NCSoft is obviously focusing on Aion. Once Aion is out across the world, they'll begin focusing on Guild Wars.

To tell you the truth, I never expected Guild Wars before 2011. Good, and complete, games just can't be completed in two years.

I am only expecting the BETA this year probably mid to late this year will the beta come. But, what do I know?

Yeah, it just got posted onto Kotaku....kinda negatively too. It was mainly without the change in ANet's PR campaign to mostly silence until closer to the big day. I certainly wasn't expecting GW2 this year, and in reality, the first release date they gave us was late 2009-early 2010, but now it is most likely late 2010 - 2011. I hope ANets PR gets comfortable enough to release some info soon.....

Hmm I wonder if they are still planning on releasing those novels?
